Extract from the official war diary of the 2nd Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

VERLORENHOEK

 The Battalion under Lieut. Roberts remained in the trenches – a heavy bombardment by the enemy was continued throughout the day.

A draft from England consisting of Lieuts. W. H. McKerrow and H. H. Nicholson and 216 other ranks arrived at Transport Lines East of POPERINGHE. Lieut. A. D. C. McAlister joined on first appointment.
