Extract from the war diary of Lt Charles Brockbank, 1st Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Wednesday.  It seems very strange being Orderly Officer only once in four days instead of alternate days. I really think I prefer it latter as there is very little to do here. Things are very slack in the way of wounded so evidently nothing special is happening up the line. It appears to be true about the patrol boat ‘Holland’ sinking a submarine. We have a bathing parade every afternoon now, which is very jolly.
