Extract from the diary of Lt B H Gregg, 5th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment
[Lt Gregg joined up in August 1914 in Chester. He survived the war and died aged 102 in Canada.]
Left billets in the early morning at 1.30 a.m. Marched to railway at GODERSVEALDE and entrained the wagons, horses & mules. Depart 6.30 a.m. travelling via the coast & AMIENS to CORBIE. In the evening dusk we marched to VECQUEMONT through fresh pleasant & different country. We reached the billets farm buildings enclosing a courtyard at 9.30 p.m.
