Extract from the war diary of Lt Charles Brockbank, 1st Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

Sunday.  Today I was ordered to take 20 men & patrol the beach from BOULOGNE to AUDREUSELLES to collect wreckage from the supply-boat “NIGEL” which was mined. I was given a Ford & told to make my headquarters at the Australian Hospital. It was fine & frosty so I enjoyed it immensely. We have about eight or ten miles of beach but by road it is nearer fifteen so I had a fine time.
