Extract from the official war diary of 1stBn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment


One man killed, 2 died of wounds and 1 wounded during night 11th/12th whilst with wiring party.  Enemy artillery active during day especially round the craters.  One man killed & 5 wounded.  Enemy were silenced in the afternoon by 50 rounds rapid fire from our artillery.  Bn. Was relieved by 1/NORFOLKS in J2 Subsector at night, marching back to billets in AGNEZ.  Relief was complete about 12.45 am on 13th
