Extract from the official war dairy of the 1st Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment



Batt marched out of camp at 8 AM to MERICOURT to entrain (Orders attached).  After a considerable wait at station train moved off about 1-30 AM & detrained at HANGEST about 3.30 PM.  From there the Battalion marched to LE QUESNOY and billeted bivouaced in an orchard.  All the Brigade moved by train & were all bivouaced for night at LE QUESNOY.  Fine & warm.  Two drafts of 25 ORs & 44 ORs respectively  joined the Battalion.
