Extract from the official war diary of the 11th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment

The Batt moved to AGENVILLE, and remained in billets in the village until the 25th inst. All the time was spent in training, of which games and competitions formed a considerable part. The weather was not however too favourable and greatly hindered the progress of training.

Ranges, bombing pits, bayonet  fighting gallows etc were all erected constructed and just as the more advanced training was about to commence orders were suddenly received by which the Batt was once more to proceed to the scene of active operation in the vicinity of THIEPVAL
