Extract from the official war diary of the 11th Bn, 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment


The battalion was relieved by the 8th Border Rgt and returned to dugouts in the RED LODGE area. The afternoon of this day and the morning of the second was spent by the battalion in bathing. The following day was spent in cleaning up and inspection of arms, equipment etc. On the 4th the billets were handed over to the 14th Royal Irish Rifles of the 36th Division.
